March 2012

WOW! It has been a gorgeous spring with unseasonably high temperatures. While I hope everyone is enjoying this weather it does mean a change in clothing for the student body. Please remember that the clothes students wear to school need to meet the dress code in the student handbook. The biggest concern for dress code violations involves the length of skirt, dresses and shorts. While they look good at the beach or pool, they may not be appropriate for school. The handbook clearly states that these items should be covering students to their mid-thigh. We determine this by having students stand up and put their hands at their sides. All of their fingertips should be touching their clothing, if not then they are not meeting the dress code. Please have a conversation with your son/daughter about this as we have many students who feel that what they are wearing is perfectly appropriate, when it does not meet the dress code.

We will be preparing the student handbook for next year in a couple of weeks and would appreciate any input that you might have for us. Feel free to email your suggestions to or use the school website to send your suggestion. »

On the 24th we had the petting zoo where kids from area schools come to the high school and visit farm animals and listen to a farm safety presentation. The auto shop was turned into our barn. Also at the petting zoo, »

The dinner and a show event, catered by Joe’s Place, included performances by the Jazz Band, Women’s Ensemble, Choir, and Concert Band. The Jazz Band performed three upbeat pieces, setting the mood for the night. The Women’s Ensemble sang two softer songs, “Chantez Alleluia” and “Killing Me Softly” while the Choir sang “Smile”, “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” and “Kiss the Girl.” To conclude the evening, the Concert Band played a Sousa March, and compilations of Broadway and Hollywood movie medleys. »
