As Vince Lombardi once said, “winning isn't everything, but wanting to win is.” The Marengo FFA has been living by this quote to bring in our spring term. We recently competed with our record books at section and district proficiencies. Representing our Chapter this year was Zach Nazimek in his hay production business at both section and district levels. Rachel Siddons represented the chapter in Equine entrepreneurship at the section level along with Ag business at both section and district levels. Rachel continued in her record book to compete for Star Ag Business at the district level, placing her among the top business projects in the state. Meredith Ziller also competed in her record book areas of dairy production entrepreneurship at the section level , she also competed for star farmer at the section level and she competed in dairy production placement at section and district levels. Meredith then qualified to go down state in her record book for dairy placement. We wish her luck on competition day. The three FFA members had fun showing off their knowledge to the judges and making new friends.

Along with competing at the district level for the FFA record books we had FFA members and non FFA members of the Biological Science Applications in Ag (BSAA) class compete at the district science fair! Renee Bauman, Laura Ganvik, and Brittany Mazur represented the Marengo FFA chapter and Maddy Evans, Brianna Erickson, and Nycole Lozona represented the BSAA non FFA members. These ladies worked hard on their projects, which consisted of animal systems, plant systems, and ag power. The FFA and non FFA members had fun learning about and carrying out their experiment. Congratulations girls on all your hard work!

Our FFA motto states, “Learning to do, Doing to learn, Earning to live, and Living to serve.” The Marengo FFA chapter does all of this on a day to day basis. We would like to thank the School Board for allowing us to show them how we carry out our motto everyday. The members conducted a slide show and a parliamentary procedure team demonstration for the school board during their February meeting. The FFA members had a fun time demonstrating their knowledge on what FFA has to offer to the members, to the school, and to the world. We would also like to thank the school board for their positive feedback it was greatly appreciated!

As spring is quickly approaching the FFA members are anxious to get back out and start doing what they do best. Having fun, making friends, learning new life skills, and of course making an impact on at least one person's life. We look forward to our journey were we shall walk where there are no footprints and leave a path for future members to follow. »
