Spring Concert and Art Show

The annual Spring Concert and Art Show will take place May 14th , with music beginning at 7:00 p.m., and Art on display from 6:00 pm throughout the end of the concert. Awards for Best of Show and media awards will be presented. Refreshments will be served. »


Two Computer Buddies sessions were held in April at MCHS, on April 10th and 12th. Patrons from the Marengo-Union Library District signed up to learn about using the Internet, Word, Excel, and other computer topics.

Specialized classes are now being offered at the public library on Internet, and on Microsoft Word. A class on Microsoft Excel is currently being planned. Marengo residents can call the library at 815-568-8236 to find out more. The next Computer Buddies sessions will be held in the fall at MCHS. »

Every spring the Illinois Drafting Educators Association sponsors a series of regional high school drafting competitions throughout the Illinois' community college system. Local winners of these events progress on to state finals at Illinois State University's Turner Hall where they compete to determine who is the best in the state.

The competition offers eight divisions, assuring possible events for many different high school students, coming from many types of high schools who offer drafting and CAD education to various levels of depth. The divisions are as follows:

Congratulations to Rebecca Vazquez for her sculpture, The Tides of Survival, exhibited at the VOICE Adolescent Allies Art Show. Her sculpture won fourth place with a $250.00 scholarship prize. The show was at the Lakeside Legacy Arts Park in Crystal Lake. The theme of the show was From Victim, To Survivor, To Thriver. Congratulations to Becca for her beautiful display depicting an important message. »
